So I'm not sure if all you beautiful people are aware, but I got a job a couple of days ago... To find out more check out my How To Pass A Job Interview post. However, back to business! Since I'm now a grown up with a real-life grown up job, I'm going to need some smart-looking attire, aren't I? And since I'll be being paid a healthy wage, I'm going to have enough money to buy myself a little work-outfit perhaps every couple of weeks. So I've been scouring the high-street store websites for different bits and bobs which I think would look fab in the office. I'm loving the sexy shapes which some of the smarter items have at the moment, peplum and shift dresses, pencil skirts and blazers, pencil trousers and tuxedo jackets... I could go on for ever! So here is the first little outfit that I'd like to invest in.
This collection is all about sexy silhouettes, soft colour but bold shapes! This is a 1940's inspired look which would be ideal for bringing some girl power to the office. I want to invest in the dress, the pink sunnies, the pink and black bag and the black shoes. I used only Topshop clothes in this collection. Sexy but professional, what is not to love?

I really love the dress you've chosen. I remember when I did an internship at a chemical engineering firm, I went in pant suits for almost 2 weeks and one day I rocked up in a pencil skirt and suddenly everyone is making comments about why I'd dressed up that day - I think looking feminine but professional makes a world of difference... and also distracts half of the male employees!!! Haha. I suppose in turn though you'd probably perform better than them with your mind on the job when they've got their minds on that dress :P xxxx
ReplyDeleteSkirts make such a nice feminine touch which people often under-estimate. I very rarely were pants now! I love that you specified about distracting the male workers... it is so true... While they are looking at your butt, you are flying past them in the career stakes, MUAHAHAHAHA :) I'm so sorry it has taken me so long to reply baby :( I will be better from now on.

I don't think not wearing a blazor is too casual. All of the pieces you've selected are gorgeous. They're professional and still really feminine.

I love Mad Men style too, although I've never watched a single episode of it! I really need to get into it. I didn't wear a blazer to work not a single day and I felt fine. I think a chic dress with a plain cardigan looks plenty smart enough whilst also keeping things comfy. Thanks for your comment.

Kerys, I would LOVE to be your personal shopper! Maybe it is something I could toy with as a career in the future... Like a female Gok Wan perhaps... Haha, I need to shake out of that fantasy. I never bought this dress :( I wish I had bought it now, because now I'm out of office work I probably won't get another opportunity to wear such a dress. Boo.
